Botha and Slanghoek Cellars are both members of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI) with significant areas currently protected.
Arbelos producers own 13 203 ha of land. Of this, a total of 3 722 ha form vineyard plantations. In addition 1 460 ha have been set aside as conservation areas.
A variety of endangered species are found in the area, including: Silky Puff, Diastella Parillis, Leucadendron Chamelea, Geissorhiza Geminate, Psatalla Propinqua and the endangered Geometric Tortoise. The Eric Hansfordii is endemic to a specific property in Slanghoek.
New areas for conservation will be identified and incorporated annually.
